The friction of a V-Belt formed channel is considerably higher than a flat surface. This cognition is used by V-Belts. They are produced endlessly and are mostly made of rubber with a textile or a Steel insert. They can convey higher moments of torque than Flat V-Belts even though they have the same place requirement. Basically 4 V-Belt Types are used:
Classic V-Belts: They are covered with fabric inlay. They are characterized by a very high operating reliability.
Narrow V-Belts: They are also covered but with a better power transmission.
Open Flank V-Belts: V-Belts with an open flank have advantages especially in the wear behaviour, in the accuracy of movement and in the friction fit.
Form Toothed V-Belts: They are similar to the open flank V-Belts, additionally they have a form toothed internal side. The Belt is used preferably on new drives because of its long run abilitities, its low energy consumption and higher power transmission.
The V-belt is the most known and represented drive V-Belt. It can be applied for example in Lighting Dynamos, Water Pumps and Hydraulic Pumps of cars but also in Washing Machines.
